Pat Cummins Fined: BCCI has taken action against Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins after he was found guilty. After the defeat to Gujarat Titans, the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain was found guilty of slow over rate, due to which he was fined. However, he is not the only captain in IPL 2026 to receive this punishment. There is a long line of captains before him. Shreyas Iyer of Punjab Kings has been fined twice for slow over rate.
Pat Cummins fined Rs 12 lakh
This was the first case of slow over rate related to Pat Cummins, due to which he was fined Rs 12 lakh. Slow over rate is a violation of Section 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, for which the minimum fine is Rs 12 lakh.
Cummins is not alone guilty of slow over rate
Pat Cummins' name is the latest in the list of captains found guilty of slow over rate in IPL 2026. Before him, names of captains like Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya, Rituraj Gaikwad, Axar Patel have been registered in this club.
Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad
Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to face defeat by 82 runs against Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans, playing first, scored 168 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of strong innings of Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar. For Gujarat, Sudarshan scored 61 runs while Sundar scored 52 runs.
In reply, chasing the target of 169 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad team was all out for 86 runs in front of the amazing bowling of Gujarat Titans. Sunrisers could not even play the full 20 overs and their work was completed in just 14.5 overs. Rabada and Holder took 3-3 wickets for Gujarat.
