Golf star Marco Penge has disclosed that he underwent an MRI scan following persistent health complaints. The 27-year-old is set to compete in the PGA Championship this week.
Penge pulled out of the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic last week due to health concerns. In a brief statement, he wrote: "Unfortunately, I have had to WD from this week at Myrtle Beach due to health reasons.
"It's nothing serious I just need to get fully fit for next week at the PGA Championship."
The Englishman has since provided further details in a separate social media statement. "Unfortunately I have had a re occurring problem with my ear/neck/nervous system since I had a viral infection back in November last year," he wrote.
"Last week I decided enough was enough after getting another sinus infection and vertigo symptoms.

"I proceeded with an MRI scan on my brain, head and neck and got the results back today....Thankfully, the images were great and so a few of the doubts I had have gone away which is a big relief.
"I'm battling to get fully fit again and hopefully that's not too far away.
"Thank you for your support as always! Looking forward to playing my 2nd PGA championship this week!"
Currently ranked 40th in the world, Penge secured his 2026 PGA Tour card on the back of an impressive 2025 DP World Tour campaign. In February, he was named the recipient of the Seve Ballesteros Award, having claimed three DP World Tour titles and a runner-up finish behind Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai.
He kicked off his 2025 season with his maiden victory at the Hainan Classic in April, before adding the Danish Golf Championship title in August. The Open de Espana followed in October, sealing his place at both The Masters and The Open in 2026.
Making his Masters debut last month, Penge successfully made the cut and finished T49. At last year's PGA Championship, he posted a tied 28th place finish, ending the tournament at 1-under par.
This year, he is due to tee off in the Championship at 6.49pm.
