Shivamogga: Incidents of wild elephant movement have once again increased in the Malnad region of Shivamogga district. A wild elephant was spotted near Doddakere in Kakanahasudi village under Umblebailu Gram Panchayat limits, creating fear among villagers.
People passing through the area and local residents were frightened after seeing the elephant near Doddakere in Kakanahasudi village.
According to locals, villagers tried to drive away the elephant by shouting and making loud noises. However, the elephant did not get scared and instead chased the villagers while trumpeting loudly.
The incident was recorded on mobile phones by members of the public.
Local residents have alleged that Forest Department officials are showing negligence in controlling the movement of wild elephants in the area.
Villagers of Umblebailu have also accused officials of failing to take permanent measures to drive the elephants back into the forest.
