Desk: Google has unveiled the new AI based laptop category Googlebook in its special event “The Android Show: I/O Edition 2026”. This new device has brought a great blend of Android and ChromeOS, in which the power of Gemini AI will be seen. Preparations are on to launch Google Book directly against Apple’s MacBook Neo. The company claims that this laptop will completely change the way users work and use laptops. The special thing is that it has been provided with features like AI based “Magic Pointer” which make it different from other laptops.
According to Google, in Googlebook, users will get the experience of both Android and ChromeOS together. In this, Android apps will be able to run directly on the laptop, while the interface will remain much like that of a Chromebook. It was discussed for a long time that Google is working on a new Android based operating system and now Google Book is being considered a big step in that direction. The company also said that all Google Books will come with premium design and strong material. A special “Globar” will also be provided in these which will support some special functions along with the design. Google has announced GoogleBook right around the 15th anniversary of Chromebook, which clearly shows that the company is seeing it as its next big platform.

The biggest attraction of GoogleBook is its Gemini AI integration. The company has given a new feature called “Magic Pointer” in it, which converts the ordinary cursor into AI cursor. The user will be able to get AI suggestions just by moving the cursor. For example, if a date is visible in an email, the Magic Pointer will suggest setting up a meeting directly. Similarly, by selecting two pictures, the user will also be able to see how the new furniture will look in the room. Google said that this technology has been developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind team. Apart from this, the user will also be able to create widgets by giving prompts to Gemini as per his need, which will create a personal dashboard by connecting with Gmail, calendar and internet data.
Connectivity between smartphone and laptop has also been made very easy in Google Book. The company has provided “Cast My Apps” feature, with the help of which the user will be able to use the apps of his Android phone directly on the laptop. The “Quick Access” feature will allow you to instantly bring files from the phone to Google Books. This feature is considered to be quite similar to the integration found between Apple’s iPhone and Mac. At present, Google has not launched its own GoogleBook device, but the company will launch it in the market in collaboration with brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google says that Google Books in different designs and sizes will be available in the market by the fall season of this year.
