Bayer has announced a massive expansion of its ‘phygital’ network for Indian farmers, reaching over 5 million farmers across the country through its digital platform FarmRise. With the increasing influence of digital technology in the agriculture sector, FarmRise app has been developed with the aim of providing farmers with all the important information to agriculture at a single click. The app is available in more than nine Indian languages including Marathi, providing agricultural advisory, local weather forecast, market prices, government schemes, crop management and various information to agriculture on a single platform. Therefore, even farmers in rural areas and those who are new to using smartphones can easily use this app.

FarmRise seeks to bridge the gap between technology and farmers, empowering farmers with reliable and timely information. ACF (Anti-Counterfeit) scanning feature in this app is in special discussion. With this facility, farmers can directly verify the authenticity of the produce through the app. More than 1 crore scans have been recorded so far, increasing awareness against fake agricultural products and strengthening farmers’ confidence in information.

FarmRise also features an AI-based chatbot for faster and more effective communication with farmers. Launched in 2025, this AI chatbot has so far answered more than 25,000 farmer queries. Dependence on direct advisors is reduced as farmers get instant guidance on crop management, climate change, disease control or other agricultural issues. So farmers can get expert agricultural advice anytime and from anywhere.

Apart from FarmRise, the company has also launched various digital initiatives like FarmRise One, Aliveo and ‘Ask Deena’ WhatsApp chatbot. More than 500 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and more than 2 lakh farmers are directly connected to the market through FarmRise One, a digital marketplace platform. This platform gives farmers direct access to agricultural information, credit facilities, markets and better buyers, helping them get better prices for their produce.

Aliveo platform provides crop insurance and risk management based on high resolution satellite information. This platform is becoming a big support for smallholder farmers who are facing climate uncertainty. Efforts are being made to get immediate help to the farmers by reducing the difficulties in the traditional insurance process. Apart from this, through ‘Ask Deena’ chatbot, farmers are being guided on sustainable farming and Direct Sowing Rice (DSR) practices.

In the future, the company intends to further expand FarmRise and other digital platforms to connect more farmers with modern technology.
