Prateek Yadav's fate is linked to an incident at Saifai Medical College. This incident happened when Prateek's mother Sadhna Gupta was a nurse there. Once the health of Murti Devi, mother of SP founder and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, late Mulayam Singh Yadav, deteriorated and she was admitted to Saifai Medical College Hospital. Just then a nurse was going to give wrong injection to Murti Devi. Sadhna stopped him in time and saved his life. It was from here that the first closeness of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sadhna Gupta started. It is said that Mulayam Singh was greatly affected by this incident. Pratik Yadav was separated from his father in childhood

Prateek Yadav was born on 7 July 1987. His father Chandraprakash Gupta was a businessman, while mother Sadhna Gupta worked in the medical field. Prateek's parents separated when he was very young. His family broke up when he was just 3 years old. After this his entire world remained limited to only his mother. Later Sadhna Gupta married Mulayam Singh Yadav and then Prateek Yadav also became a part of the Yadav family.

Prateek Yadav was not always this fit. At one time his weight had reached 103 kg. Then Mulayam Singh gave him a challenge, 'If you lose weight, you will get a big reward.' Prateek took up this challenge in such a way that the gym became his second home. He lost 36 kg of weight and then became so passionate about body building that he opened his own gym in Lucknow.
