Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said his government was preparing to organise a "grand and divine" Kumbh Mela with adequate facilities for devotees and saints as he unveiled the official logo for the upcoming mega gathering.

Fadnavis maintained the government was working in coordination with 'akharas' (Hindu monastic orders) and religious leaders to ensure smooth arrangements for the spiritual congregation, which takes place after every 12 years.

"We gave a presentation on the preparations made so far for the Kumbh Mela. Saints and mahants (religious leaders) gave several suggestions, which have been taken seriously and officials have been instructed to act on them," he stated.

The CM was speaking after unveiling the logo of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela and holding discussions with representatives of 13 major akharas at an event in Mumbai.

Earlier, Fadnavis unveiled the logo at the Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, an official release said.

The design was selected through a nationwide competition jointly organised by the Kumbh Mela Authority, MyGov and the Association of Designers of India. A total of 3,067 entries, including 70 from international participants, were received during the contest held between November 20 and December 20, 2025.

A panel of eminent design experts, including Prasoon Joshi, selected the winning design.

Sumit Kate won the first prize of Rs 3 lakh, while Mayank Nayak and Piyush Pimpalnerkar secured the second and third prizes and received Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.

According to the statement, the logo incorporates symbols associated with the religious and cultural heritage of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, including Lord Shiva's trident, the Trimbakeshwar temple, the Kalaram temple arch and the Godavari River.

The Simhastha Kumbh Mela will start on October 31, 2026, and run until July 24, 2028, with main bathing events in 2027.
