The Special MP-MLA Court of Prayagraj found four accused including Vijay Mishra guilty in this high-profile case and sentenced them to rigorous life imprisonment. After the decision, once again the debate on UP politics, mafia network and history of musclemen has intensified.

What was Vijay Mishra’s 46 year old case?
This case is of 11 February 1980. Allahabad University student Prakash Narayan Pandey had reached the district court premises for bail. It is alleged that due to old rivalry, Vijay Mishra along with his associates Jeet Narayan, Santram and Balram reached there and opened fire in the court premises itself. In this attack, 35-year-old Prakash Narayan Pandey died on the spot, while five other people were injured. After the incident, the deceased’s brother Shyam Narayan Pandey had lodged an FIR at Colonelganj police station.
What punishment did the court give to the four accused including Vijay Mishra?
Special Judge Yogesh Kumar Tiwari found Vijay Mishra, Jeet Narayan, Santram Mishra and Balram Mishra guilty of murder and sentenced them to rigorous life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on all the culprits. In the case of attempt to murder under section 307 of the IPC, additional imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of Rs 50,000 each was imposed.
