Rs 2 per litre increase implemented
The company has raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across variants. Popular products like Amul Taaza have also become costlier. The price revision comes in response to higher payments to dairy farmers, along with rising transportation and processing costs.
What are the new prices?
Under the revised rates, a one-litre pack of Amul Gold will now cost Rs 70. The price of buffalo milk has also been increased and is now available at Rs 57 per litre. The new prices have already been implemented at dairy outlets and retail points from this morning.
Impact on household budgets
The increase in milk prices is likely to put additional pressure on household expenses. Daily essentials such as tea, coffee, sweets, and other milk-based products may also become more expensive. While Amul has revised prices periodically in the past, this latest hike is expected to weigh more heavily on middle-class consumers.
