Google has introduced a new category of laptops, dubbed the "Googlebook." Google states that this is not merely a standard laptop, but rather a next-generation device powered by AI. The company has designed it specifically to integrate with Gemini AI. Google's objective is to enable people to use laptops in a manner entirely different from how they have in the past.
**What is the Googlebook?**
According to Google, the Googlebook will feature a blend of both Android and ChromeOS. This means users will be able to run Android apps directly on the device while simultaneously enjoying the lightweight and fluid experience characteristic of ChromeOS. Google Books' most significant feature is the integrated Gemini AI. Google has positioned its AI assistant, Gemini, as the core component of this laptop.
The company asserts that the Googlebook will assist users in performing various smart tasks with the aid of AI. It features a new "Magic Pointer" capability; this feature transforms the standard cursor into an AI-powered cursor. If a user moves the cursor slightly across the screen, the AI will begin generating contextually relevant suggestions.
**Create Your Own Smart Widgets**
On the Googlebook, users will be able to create custom widgets simply by typing text commands. Gemini AI can search the internet for information and integrate with Google apps—such as Gmail and Calendar—to curate a personalized dashboard.
The Googlebook will also include a feature called "Cast My Apps." This allows users to utilize their smartphone applications directly on the laptop. Additionally, the "Quick Access" feature will enable the seamless transfer of files from an Android phone to the Googlebook. This functionality will operate somewhat similarly to the file-sharing ecosystem between an iPhone and a Mac.
**Google Will Not Manufacture the Laptops Itself**
As of now, Google has not launched a proprietary Googlebook laptop of its own. The company has clarified that it will bring Google Books to the market in collaboration with hardware partners such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.
These laptops will be offered in a variety of designs, form factors, and price points to ensure accessibility for the widest possible range of customers.
**When Will the Google Book Launch?**
According to Google, Google Books could begin arriving on the market toward the end of this year—specifically during the Fall season. However, the company has not yet announced a specific launch date.
