UP Storm Havoc: Man Swept Away With Tin Shed in Bareilly, Over 100 Dead

A powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain wreaked havoc across nearly 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj and Ayodhya, on Wednesday. In Bareilly, a severe cyclonic storm caused widespread destruction, claiming four lives and killing several livestock.

Amid the devastation, a shocking video has surfaced from Bamiyana village in the Bhamora area, showing a man being lifted into the air along with a tin shed during strong winds. The disturbing footage has quickly gone viral on social media, highlighting the intensity of the storm.



Man Flung Into Air, Seriously Injured

The man, identified as Nanhe Miyan, was reportedly holding onto a tin shed at a wedding venue when powerful gusts swept him off the ground along with the structure. He was thrown down moments later, suffering serious injuries, and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Widespread Damage, Over 100 Dead

The storm caused massive damage across the state, with trees uprooted and electricity poles knocked down, disrupting power supply in several areas. According to reports, over 100 people lost their lives due to the storm, with the highest casualties reported from Prayagraj and Bhadohi. Crops have also suffered extensive damage.

The severe weather also disrupted rail traffic, with services on the Delhi–Howrah route affected for nearly 90 minutes.

CM Orders Immediate Relief

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide compensation to those affected by unseasonal rain, storms, and lightning. He instructed that relief measures be completed within 24 hours and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

Monsoon Update

Meanwhile, weather conditions are becoming favourable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon. The Meteorological Department has indicated that by May 16, the monsoon is likely to reach parts of the South Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, signalling its normal progression.
