Frederic Soyez Coach of Indian Junior Hockey Team: Hockey India has announced the new head coach for the Indian junior men’s hockey team on May 14. In which Hockey India has handed over the responsibility of the post of head coach to former French player Frederic Soyez in place of Olympic winning player PR Sreejesh. Earlier this responsibility was being handled by Sreejesh. Sreejesh worked with the junior hockey team for about one and a half years.
Last year, Sreejesh’s tenure ended during the Junior Hockey World Cup held in Chennai and Madurai. In his presence, the junior hockey team had won the bronze medal, but Hockey India did not extend his tenure. Although Sreejesh had applied to become the head coach again, Hockey India did not hand over this responsibility to him this time.
Who is the new coach of the junior hockey team?
If we talk about the new Indian junior hockey team coach, then at present he is counted among the best hockey coaches in Europe. Frederic Soyez has more than 15 years of coaching experience in hockey. Talking about his career, Soyez played a total of 196 matches in international hockey for France from 1995 to 2010. During this period he scored 195 goals for his team.

He also has extensive experience in the European Championships, where he took up coaching duties at six consecutive tournaments from 2013 to 2023.

hockey india President and former Indian player Dilip Tirkey has expressed happiness over the appointment of Frederick Soyez. He said that Soyez has a long experience of coaching at the international level, which will definitely benefit Indian hockey. According to Tirkey, Hockey India is working on a long-term plan keeping in mind the 2036 Olympics and Soyuz’s role is going to be very important in it. He also said that the focus of the board is not just on the current results, but on creating a strong group of players who can perform consistently from junior to senior level.
