A very shocking case of honey trap, robbery and kidnapping has come to light from Sainik Farm area. Delhi Police has arrested four accused including an army jawan in this case. The most surprising thing is that the arrested soldier has been awarded the Ashok Chakra, the country’s highest peacetime gallantry award, in the year 2022. According to the police, the accused first lured a 72-year-old chartered accountant, then entered his house, beat him up, robbed him and later conspired to kidnap him and demand ransom. The elderly man was kidnapped in his own car and taken to Haryana and then abandoned on the way and ran away.

Army soldier turns out to be the main accused

The arrested accused have been identified as Surendra (31), resident of Fatehabad, Haryana, Kalpana Kumari (40), resident of Kalkaji, Delhi, and Kuldeep and Sushil, residents of Fatehabad. According to the police, Surendra is a soldier in the Indian Army and was currently posted in Mathura. However, he was not reporting for duty for some time. Surendra was awarded the Ashoka Chakra in the year 2022. He was injured by a bullet during an operation against terrorists in Kupwara in 2021.

Investigation revealed that the victim and Kalpana already knew each other. According to the police, Kalpana reached the old man’s house on the evening of 2 May. After some time, his accomplices also entered the house and took the victim hostage. The accused allegedly assaulted the elderly man, tied him with tape and looted cash, jewelery and important documents kept in the house.

Loot worth lakhs, ransom of Rs 50 lakh

According to the police, the accused looted about Rs 5 lakh in cash from the cupboard, Rs 8 to 10 thousand kept in the drawer, a purse full of cash, three gold rings, Aadhaar card, driving license and credit card. After this, the accused forcibly took the victim in their car and took him towards Meerut. On the way, they demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from the old man and forced him to get Rs 15 lakh from his acquaintances.

When the victims could not arrange the amount, the accused left them at Firozpur Jhirka near Delhi-Mumbai Highway and fled. Somehow the victims reached a nearby dhaba and informed the police about the incident from there.

Big police action in 36 hours

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Neb Sarai police station team of Delhi Police registered a case under sections of kidnapping, robbery, assault and criminal conspiracy and started investigation. On the basis of CCTV footage and local enquiry, the police arrested Kalpana and Surendra from Mathura within just 36 hours. Rs 4 lakh in cash and the victim’s purse were recovered from them. After this, two other accused were also arrested in a raid in Fatehabad. Police have also recovered the looted cash, jewellery, documents, the victim’s car and the air gun used in the crime.

During interrogation, the police came to know that both Kalpana and Surendra were already divorced. Both were identified through Instagram. Gradually the closeness between the two increased and in November 2025 they got married in the temple. At present, the police is also investigating whether the accused have been involved in such incidents in the past also or not.
