After the trust vote in Tamil Nadu politics, the political temperature has reached sky high. Former Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin has issued an explosive statement on social media in a scathing attack on the new government of Thalapathy Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). Stalin not only raised questions on the formation of the government, but also left no stone unturned in rebuking his allies and the Congress.

Walkout and support of colleagues

Stalin, clarifying his strategy, said that DMK had already decided that it would not become a thorn in the side of the TVK government. Due to this, DMK MLAs boycotted the voting and walked out of the House. Stalin thanked his colleagues Premalatha Vijayakanth, Professor Jawaharullah, Thamimun Ansari and Nithyanandan who staged the walkout. At the same time, parties like CPI, CPI (M) and VCK supported the government to postpone President’s rule, which Stalin said to respect.

Stalin angry over ‘friendship’ of Congress and TVK

Stalin’s greatest attacks were on those allies who supported the TVK. He expressed his displeasure over the stand of other parties including Congress. Stalin indicated that ideology should be paramount in politics and changing sides of alliance partners would amount to misleading the people of the state. This statement has exposed the cracks within the opposition alliance of Tamil Nadu.

Accusation of ‘dirty politics’ in the name of ‘clean politics’

Stalin made serious allegations against Vijay’s government for having AIADMK MLAs in his side. He said that taking advantage of AIADMK’s internal strife, TVK has attracted their MLAs. Stalin sarcastically asked why those who had come with the promise of ‘clean politics’ were now doing such ‘dirty politics’? Quoting the public, he asked that if the beginning is like this, then what will be the outcome?

What ‘return gift’ will AIADMK MLAs get?

In his statement, Stalin warned the Chief Minister and said that the people of Tamil Nadu are watching everything. He quipped that people now want to know what ‘return gift’ the MLAs who left AIADMK are going to get from the government. Stalin made it clear that DMK will not compromise on its ideology and will continue to fight for the rights of the people by becoming a strong and constructive opposition in the state. His statement has started a new political war in the state.
