Suriya fans erupt in protest in Puducherry after last-minute delay of 'Karuppu' release

Suriya ’s massive fan base has been eagerly awaiting the much-anticipated release of the fantasy action drama ‘Karuppu’. However, they were left disappointed following the cancellation of screenings. Outside the theatres, fans were spotted in a festive mood, only to be frustrated and disappointed as they couldn’t find any updates about the film’s release.
Fans gathered outside cinema housesIn video shared by Mubaraksvlog online, fans of Suriya can be seen gathered outside theatres in Puducherry from early Thursday morning to celebrate the release of ‘Karuppu’. Many came wearing custom-made T-shirts and carried confetti, crackers, dhols and flower garlands. Some fans also brought milk packets to perform special celebrations in front of the actor’s posters before the first show.
The celebrations suddenly stopped after fans were informed that several shows of ‘Karuppu’ had been cancelled. Many people who had arrived hours early were left confused after finding the theatre gates locked. Some fans said they only learned about the cancellation after entering the theatre premises.
Fans who were dancing moments earlier were later seen standing outside the theatres waiting for updates. There were no immediate announcements from the production team, which made the situation more frustrating for many people gathered there.
As the delay continued, fans started raising slogans against producer S R Prabhu and production banner Dream Warrior Pictures. The confusion slowly turned into protests outside several cinema halls in Puducherry.
Even after the cancellations, many fans stayed outside theatres hoping the shows would begin later in the day. The protests continued for some time as people demanded clear information about the release.
Now, as per the latest updates, PVR and INOX cinema recently shared social media posts that the movie will be screened in their theatres tomorrow onwards, on Friday, May 15.
About ‘Karuppu’Directed by RJ Balaji, the film shows Suriya in a dual avatar as a lawyer and as well as portraying Lord Karuppu. Trisha Krishnan features as the female lead and also dons the lawyer’s coat. The film also includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy in key roles.
