Heartbreaking new details have emerged following the death of Nottinghamshire footballer Tyler Fairman, who tragically died in hospital after an alleged hit-and-run incident in Arnold. Mr Fairman, 26, was celebrating an end-of-season evening out with his team-mates from Woodthorpe Park Rangers FC when a red Vauxhall Astra mounted the pavement and struck a group of five people in the Market Place.

The young footballer suffered serious injuries in the incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, May 9. Despite the tireless efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead on Tuesday evening (May 12). A fundraising appeal has since been established to support Mr Fairman's family following his death, having already raised more than £11,000 as of Thursday morning (May 14). The page describes Mr Fairman as "not only a devoted partner, but also a loving father to his beautiful son", adding that he and his partner were expecting a baby girl "very soon".

The couple had been together for eight years. A statement on the fundraiser read: "Laraya [Mr Fairman's partner] is currently in the final stages of her pregnancy, facing a loss no one should ever have to endure.

"As well as being a dedicated NHS healthcare worker, Laraya also runs her own beauty business, which she will now need to step away from.

"We want to ease any financial pressure she may face, allowing her to focus on herself, her healing, and her babies without added stress or worry.

"Any contribution will be massively appreciated and will all go towards supporting Laraya and her children during this incredibly painful and difficult time." You can donate here.

The four other individuals caught up in the crash sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Woodthorpe Park Rangers confirmed that another team member and their manager were also among those caught up in the incident.

Duane Anthony, 40, of Marton Road, Bulwell, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder along with a number of further driving offences.

Following Mr Fairman's death, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a murder investigation had been launched.

Anthony appeared before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, 11 May, where he came face to face with the families and friends of the victims who had gathered in the public gallery.

He was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 June.
