A dramatic video from Arkansas captured the terrifying aftermath of a high-speed police chase involving 23-year-old mother Thalia Jones and her 3-year-old son. Authorities said Jones refused to stop for state troopers in the town of Joiner on May 2, as reported by TMZ, leading to a dangerous pursuit that ended when the vehicle rolled over on a busy roadway. Moments after the crash, Jones opened the overturned car door and her toddler ran toward responding officers. In the emotional footage, state troopers can be heard reassuring the child, saying, "You’re OK. Come. Come right here, baby." The shocking video quickly spread online, sparking strong reactions about the risks of reckless driving and police chases.
Arkansas State Police attempted a PIT maneuver during the chase along Highway 118, causing Jones’ vehicle to veer off the roadway, drive across a grassy area, cross back over the street, and eventually roll over near a roadside ditch.
"My baby’s coming outside!" Jones can be heard yelling to troopers before she exits the overturned vehicle herself. Moments later, her 3-year-old son appears unharmed as he climbs out of the wreckage and runs toward the responding officers.
Authorities later filed multiple charges against Jones, including reckless driving, fleeing from law enforcement, first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, driving with a suspended license, and unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime.
Officials said the vehicle involved in the chase belonged to her boyfriend. There is no indication that the state trooper was aware a child was inside the car during the pursuit.
