Bureau Prayagraj. When the heat is at its peak, a person looks for shade, buys water and drinks it if he is outside or does not find it, in total he finds a thousand ways to quench his thirst… But, what about those voiceless birds and animals, who can neither knock on the door of anyone’s house, nor tell the story of their ordeal due to their thirst? On the scorching roads, dry rooftops and deserted corners, when a bird opens its beak and looks towards the sky with helpless eyes, this scene is enough to shake the heart to the core.
These are the moments when the real test of humanity occurs and some people pass this test. The city’s fast-growing organization Being Responsible has been keeping this spirit at the forefront for almost four years. The organization implements this spirit in its work and conducts ‘Dana-Pani’ campaign every summer.
They cannot speak…that is why their thirst cannot be heard. They cannot ask…that is why their suffering is not visible. But, their pain is as real as ours. This feeling on the theme “What if they are voiceless, they also feel thirsty…” has been keeping a beautiful initiative alive for the last many years. This initiative is not a one-time effort, but a responsibility being repeated every summer for many years, which is becoming the support of life for the voiceless.
This year too, the organization has distributed more than 200 soil bags and grains in different areas of the city, so that birds and animals can get some respite in this scorching heat. These pots are not just earthen pots… they are hope, relief, and a lifeline for many lives.
The organization Being Responsible believes that if every person keeps just one Sakora outside his house, on the terrace or nearby and takes the responsibility of filling water in it every day, then many innocent lives can be saved. This small effort can mean the world to someone.
The organization is taking forward this initiative not just as a service, but as an idea, a sensitive idea, which makes us realize that not only humans but every living being has equal rights in this world. When a bird suffers from thirst, it is not just a bird, it is a mirror of our inner humanity.
This wonderful initiative by Being Responsible has been running without any noise for years, with neither any pretense nor any kind of expectation.. It is just a genuine effort, which becomes a relief to the thirst of some voiceless bird every summer. Gradually this feeling is reaching the hearts of the people. Now many people themselves have come forward and started adopting this initiative to conserve water in and around their homes. Because the truth is that humanity is not limited to humans only.. it is present in every life that feels it, even if it cannot speak. And perhaps, this is the moment when we not only live, but also become the reason to let someone else live.
Keeping water filled in a small earthen jar may seem simple to us… but we should not forget that in the race to build tall buildings in cities, by destroying trees and water sources, we are gradually snatching away their rightful shelter and drinking resources from these tiny creatures. In such a situation, these straws are like a straw to support a drowning person.
