Bengaluru: Virat Kohli’s bat is once again on fire in IPL 2026. In the thrilling match played against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kohli not only led his team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to victory by playing an unbeaten century but also created a series of records. During this innings, Kohli has crossed the magical figure of 14,000 runs in T20 cricket and 9,000 runs in IPL. Seeing his masterclass innings, former veteran cricketer Virender Sehwag has also become impressed by him.

Chase Master Kohli: More than 4000 runs just while chasing the target

His figures prove why Virat Kohli is called the world’s best ‘Chase Master’. Of his more than 9,000 runs scored in the IPL, more than 4,000 have been scored while chasing only. Sehwag praised Kohli and said, “While chasing, Virat’s mind works faster than Chacha Chaudhary. He does risk-free batting in the beginning and returns only after finishing the match. It would take more than 10 years for an ordinary player to score so many runs while chasing.”

Century after zero: Kohli showed real class

There was pressure on Kohli after being out for zero in the last two matches, but against KKR he scored an unbeaten 105 runs in 60 balls with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes. He took full advantage of the lease of life he got at the score of 23 runs and made an important partnership of 92 runs for the second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal (37 runs). With this win, RCB has reached the top position in the points table with 16 points in 12 matches.

KKR’s efforts went in vain, the team slipped in the points table

Earlier, after losing the toss and opting to bat, Kolkata Knight Riders scored a challenging score of 192 runs after losing 4 wickets on the basis of Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s brilliant half-century of 71 runs and Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 49 runs. However, this score also proved to be dwarf in front of Kohli’s ‘Virat’ strike. KKR now remains in eighth place with only 9 points from 11 matches and the path to the playoffs has now become very difficult for them.

‘Genius, Got and Legend’: Sehwag won praises

While discussing Kohli’s batting style, Sehwag said that he was at a loss for words for Virat. According to Sehwag, “We have all called Virat Kohli a genius, GOAT and legend. He knows when to hit big shots and when to handle the innings. The total runs of many IPL players are not as many as Virat has scored while chasing alone. It is really unbelievable.”
