New Delhi: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday said the United States has realized that pressure and aggression cannot resolve tensions in West Asia, while emphasizing that diplomacy remains the only path toward regional stability.
Speaking on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, Araghchi said military confrontation would only deepen instability in the region.
“They have come to the point and understand that they cannot achieve anything through aggression,” the Iranian minister said during an interaction with Doordarshan News.

‘No Military Solution for West Asia’
Araghchi stressed that Iran believes diplomacy is the most effective way to address ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. “For West Asia, it is best to go with diplomacy. There is no military solution,” he said.
His remarks come amid continued uncertainty in the region following rising tensions involving Iran, concerns over maritime security, and fears of disruption to global oil supplies.
The Iranian foreign minister also indicated that Tehran views Washington’s pressure tactics as ineffective. According to him, the US has repeatedly tested Iran but failed to achieve its objectives through coercive measures.
Iran Raises Concerns Over ‘Contradictory Messages’ From US
During the interaction, Araghchi said Iran continues to receive mixed signals from Washington. “The main problem is the contradictory messages we get from the US,” he remarked.
The statement comes at a time when diplomatic channels between Tehran and Washington remain strained amid ongoing disagreements over regional security and Iran’s nuclear programme.
Strait of Hormuz ‘Open for Friendly Countries’
Araghchi also addressed concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes through which a significant portion of global crude oil supplies passes.

“As far as we are concerned, the Strait of Hormuz is not closed, especially for friendly countries. It is only closed for our enemies,” he said. The minister added that vessels from friendly nations would continue to have safe passage, provided coordination is maintained with Iranian authorities.
“We only ask to coordinate with our military to avoid any obstacle in the way for safe passage,” he added.
Iran Appreciates BRICS Position
Araghchi also praised the BRICS grouping for advocating diplomacy and condemning aggression in international conflicts.
“I very much appreciate BRICS’ position on condemnation of aggression,” he said, while highlighting the importance of multilateral cooperation and peaceful dialogue.
