Indian audiences face longer wait for ‘Dhurandhar 2’ OTT release

After a strong run in cinemas, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now preparing for its digital release, but people in India will have to wait a little longer.

The makers have opted for separate streaming plans across regions, a rare move for Indian films.

For the overseas audience, the Ranveer Singh starrer is set to release on Netflix around May 14 or 15 depending on local time zones.

In India, the spy-action thriller will begin streaming on JioHotstar from June 5, though the platform is planning a special fan event a day earlier.

According to reports, before the film drops online, viewers will get a 30-minute pre-show on June 4 at 7 pm, featuring cast conversations, behind-the-scenes clips and stories from the making of the film.

The move comes weeks after the film’s international streaming release date was announced. Since then, many viewers in India had been waiting for a domestic OTT release, making the announcement one of the talking points among fans online.

Another reason the streaming launch is drawing attention is the makers’ promise of a “RAW & Undekha” version.

According to the platform, audiences will get to watch the film in a more original and unfiltered form.

Director Aditya Dhar said, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge has been an incredibly special journey for all of us, and we’re excited to now bring the film to audiences on JioHotstar through this unique premiere experience.”

The film is written, directed and produced by Dhar, and also stars R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt in key roles.
