Udupi: The Udupi district police have externed a man accused in illegal cricket betting cases from the district in the interest of maintaining public peace and law and order.
The accused has been identified as Bharath Jayaram Das (34), a resident of Moodubirthi in Waramballi village of Brahmavar taluk.
According to police, three cricket betting cases had been registered against him at Kota and Kundapur police stations.
Officials said the accused has already been convicted in one of the three cases, while the remaining two cases are currently under investigation.
The externment order was issued on Thursday by the Udupi Superintendent of Police and Special Executive Magistrate.
As per the order, the accused has been externed to the jurisdiction of Kengeri police station under the Bengaluru Commissionerate limits.
