The Trump administration is very excited about this big event. Regarding spectators traveling to the United States for soccer tournaments, the Trump administration is suspending a requirement that required foreign travelers from certain countries to post a bond of up to $15,000; This discount will be available to those passengers who have confirmed tickets for the FIFA World Cup.

The department imposed this bond condition last year on countries it said people there often overstay their visas and have other security issues. The move was part of the Republican administration’s broader crackdown on immigration. The new bond is required for travelers from 50 countries traveling to the United States, and five of those countries have qualified for the World Cup — Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Tunisia.

Citizens of the five countries who have purchased tickets from FIFA are now exempt from the visa bond requirement. The players, coaches and some staff of the World Cup team were already exempted from the conditions of this bond. The relaxation was part of the administration’s orders to prioritize visa processing for the tournament.

“The United States is excited to host the biggest and best FIFA World Cup in history,” said Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar. “We are waiving the visa bond requirement for eligible fans who have purchased World Cup tickets” and have opted into the FIFA Pass system, which will allow expedited visa appointments starting April 15.
