Michael Carrick has confirmed that his future with Manchester United will be decided "pretty soon."

The announcement comes as talks continue over a contract for him to take over as head coach on a permanent basis.

The deal is likely to be for two years, with an option for an additional season, as per reports.

United's chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox recommended Carrick's appointment as Ruben Amorim's permanent successor to minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

When asked about the ongoing contract talks during a press conference of Friday, Carrick said, "The future for me is going to be decided pretty soon. We knew that was going to be toward the end of the season, if not the end of the season, so nothing's changed."

"There's no big swing on that. That is what it is, you know. Obviously, whatever's beyond that is pretty close around the corner anyway."

Carrick also confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will be available for his farewell at Old Trafford.

"Casemiro is available," he told the media.

"He gave absolutely everything in every aspect, knowing that it was going to come to an end at the end of the season. As I've said before, it's a credit to him for the way he's gone about that, and just because it's coming to the end and there's clarity with it, it's easy to go the other way as well."
