
Abu Dhabi, 15 May. Several important agreements were signed between India and UAE on Friday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These include agreements to bilateral strategic defense partnership, LPG supply, strategic petroleum reserves and India’s RBL Bank, Samman Capital and investment of five billion dollars in the infrastructure sector.
Agreement on ship repairing cluster in Vadinar
An agreement was also signed between the two countries to establish a ship repairing cluster in Vadinar, Gujarat. This initiative is being considered an important step towards increasing maritime trade and logistics cooperation.
India is with UAE in every situation: PM Modi
During delegation-level talks in Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘India stands shoulder to shoulder with the UAE in every situation and will continue to do so. India will provide all possible support for the restoration of peace and stability. He said it was extremely important for the Strait of Hormuz to remain ‘free and open’ and international laws should be respected.
Emphasis on taking strategic partnership to new heights
PM Modi thanked UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, saying that in the current global circumstances, the importance of cooperation between the two countries has increased further. He said that during the visit of the UAE President to India in January, the two countries had agreed to qualitatively upgrade relations and significant progress has been made in many areas in a short period of time.
The Prime Minister said, ‘I thank you heartily for taking our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights. Even in such a short time, we have made significant progress in all areas. In the times to come, we will move forward together in every field.
Expressed concern over the situation in West Asia
PM Modi said that the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia is being felt at the global level. He stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are the best means to solve problems.
Earlier, PM Modi reached UAE on Friday morning, where he was formally welcomed. He later held bilateral talks with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, popularly known as MBZ.
PM Modi is on a tour of five countries
It is noteworthy that PM Narendra Modi is on a visit to five countries – UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy from May 15 to 20. The visit aims to strengthen India’s strategic and economic partnerships in key areas such as energy, defence, technology, green transition and trade.
