India Meteorological Department i.e. IMD has issued a new update regarding the weather across the country for May 16. According to the Meteorological Department, in the coming days, different effects of weather will be seen in different parts of the country. While extreme heat and heat wave will trouble people, there is a possibility of rain, storm and lightning in many states. The department has also issued an alert of strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour in many areas.

The effect of heat in North-West India does not seem to be reducing at present. Temperatures may remain high in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions may arise in these areas. There is a possibility of severe heat especially in western Rajasthan. Dust storms may also occur along with hot winds in some parts of Uttar Pradesh. However, the weather may remain a bit respite due to light rain and thundershowers in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The weather is expected to be more active in eastern and northeastern India. There is a possibility of rain and lightning with strong winds in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha. At some places in Bihar, storm may blow at a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. At the same time, rainy season may continue in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Due to heavy rainfall in some areas of Assam and Meghalaya, the risk of waterlogging and landslides may also increase.
Light to moderate rain expected in Tisgarh and Vidarbha region
In Central India, light to moderate rain is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha region. At the same time, the effect of strong winds and rain can also be seen in Konkan, Goa and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra.
In South India, rain and thundershowers may continue in many areas including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, conditions are becoming favorable for the advance of the south-west monsoon.
