Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh, played one of those well you know, explosive kinds of knocks in IPL 2026 during Match 59 against Chennai Super Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The Australian batter, sort of absolutely changed the mood, with his savage batting, especially in one brutal over against young pacer Anshul Kamboj.
Chasing the target vs CSK, Marsh looked all guns blazing from the very start. But honestly, the fifth over of the innings became the real turning point , when he went after Kamboj with fearless bat work.
Watch Video here:
On the first ball of that over, Marsh found his feet spot on and smashed a short delivery over the covers for a huge six. Next ball, it just disappeared over deep mid-wicket, as the batter pulled it with clean control.
Kamboj tried switching his length, but Marsh kept hammering. The third delivery was again pulled, this time over deep square leg for another six. Pressure just kept climbing, and on the fourth ball, Marsh made it four sixes straight in a row. For this one, he sat deep in the crease and launched the ball high into the stands.
The crowd at the Ekana Stadium went wild after every contact, because Marsh was fully in charge of the chase. He wrapped up the over with a boundary on the last ball, flicking it fine down the leg side. Overall 28 runs came from that over, and yeah that gave Lucknow a massive swing in the run chase.

Marsh Drives LSG’s Dominating Run
After that big burst, Mitchell Marsh continued in the same aggressive style, and stayed unbeaten on 77 runs off only 31 balls. His innings had seven fours and seven sixes, with a striking strike rate of 248.39, which felt kinda unreal.
Josh Inglis, from the other end, supported him nicely too, remaining unbeaten on 27 off 22 balls. The opening partnership handed Lucknow Super Giants full command, because CSK bowlers couldn’t properly stop the run flow.
Marsh’s clean hitting against pace, and also spin, made the whole chase look almost simple. Chennai Super Kings could not find the right lengths, and the Australian batter punished nearly every loose ball that arrived.
LSG Go 113 Without Loss
At 113/0 in 8.5 overs, Lucknow Super Giants needed only 75 more runs from 67 balls to finish the chase. Mitchell Marsh was on 77, while Josh Inglis stayed unbeaten on 27.
Lucknow also got help from extras, including one bye, five leg-byes and three wides. Meanwhile, big-impact batters like Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Rishabh Pant were still there, waiting to come in.
For Chennai Super Kings, Anshul Kamboj had a tough time as he conceded 39 runs in two overs. Spencer Johnson then gave away 31 runs in his three overs, and Mukesh Choudhary plus Gurjapneet Singh were also expensive. Noor Ahmad was basically the only bowler who managed to keep things slightly calmer, ending with 13 runs in 1.5 overs.
