District Magistrate Charcharat Gaur conducted a surprise inspection of the Kanhar Irrigation Project area on Friday and took stock of the progress of various works to the project. During the inspection, he also held a review meeting with the officials of the concerned departments and gave instructions to complete the construction works, compensation distribution, filing-rejecting, tree cutting, electrical problems and minor canal digging works in a timely manner and with quality.
In the meeting, Forest Department officials told the District Magistrate that the work of felling of all the trees falling in the Main Canal Canal area will be completed by the month of June. For this, six division level teams have been formed by the department and village wise action plans are being prepared and work is being done.
Electricity department officials informed that work is being done expeditiously to solve the power lines and other technical problems in the project area and prompt resolution of the pending problems will be ensured. While directing Deputy District Magistrate Duddhi Nikhil Yadav and Deputy District Magistrate Obara Vivek Kumar Singh, the District Magistrate said that the process of the lands in the submergence area which have not been registered yet should be completed soon by getting the process done on a daily basis.
He said that in the cases of affected families who have not received compensation yet, the regional accountant should ensure distribution of compensation by completing the inheritance and filing-dismissal process quickly. He gave instructions to expedite the disposal of pending cases by reviewing tehsil wise. Besides, the Kanhar Project Officer was directed to resolve all the land problems immediately and after conducting a survey of the displaced families, the action of providing them housing should be completed on priority basis.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate expressed his displeasure and reprimanded KCD I Executive Engineer Veer Bahadur Singh for not presenting clear information about the work progress. He said that any kind of negligence in project work will not be tolerated. The DM also warned the contractor doing the minor excavation work and said that if the progress of the work is not found satisfactory during the inspection, then strict penalty will be imposed on the concerned contractor. On this occasion, Economics and Statistics Officer Satpal Verma and officials of Irrigation Department and other departments were present.
