Story of Vat Savitri Vrat

According to religious texts, in ancient times there was a king named Ashwapati. His daughter's name was Savitri, she was blessed with all the virtues. Savitri was married to Satyavan, son of King Dyumtsena. But due to being defeated by the enemies, King Dyumtsena lived with his family in the forest.
Before marriage, Narada Muni had told Savitri that Satyavan's life span was very short. Even after this, Satyavati accepted to marry Satyavan only. On the day when Satyavan was about to die, Savitri also went to the forest with her husband Satyavan.
When Satyavan died while cutting wood in the forest and Yamraj started taking away his life, Savitri also followed him towards Yamalok. Seeing Savitri's vow to her husband, Yamraj gave her many boons and ultimately Satyavan also had to give up his life.
