There is great news for candidates awaiting railway recruitment. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the notification for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment. Under this recruitment drive, approximately 11,127 posts for Assistant Loco Pilots will be filled across various railway zones throughout the country. The online application process for this begins today, May 15th. Eligible and interested candidates can apply through the official RRB website, rrbapply.gov.in. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for June 14th.
Applicants must complete the registration process through the centralized recruitment portal and select their preferred Railway Recruitment Board while filling out the form. Based on this selection, successful candidates will be appointed to the respective railway zones.
What are the Eligibility Criteria?
Educational Qualification: Matriculation/SSLC (10th Pass) combined with an ITI certificate from a recognized institution (NCVT/SCVT) in trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic.
Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile).
B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering stream.
Age Limit: Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot in the Railways must ensure that they are at least 18 years old and not more than 30 years old. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted relaxation in the upper age limit as per government regulations.
What is the Selection Process?
The selection process for this recruitment comprises Computer-Based Tests (CBT) 1 and 2, a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)/Proficiency Test, Document Verification, and a Medical Examination. Only candidates who successfully clear each stage will proceed to the next round of selection, and only those who pass all stages will be declared finally selected.
What is the Exam Pattern?
CBT-1 will consist of 75 questions, carrying a total of 75 marks, and the duration of the examination will be 60 minutes. All questions will pertain to Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science, and General Knowledge; for every incorrect answer, one-third of a mark will be deducted. The minimum passing marks have been set at 40% for the Unreserved (UR) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories, 30% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Castes (SC), and 25% for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Meanwhile, the CBT-2 examination will comprise two parts, with a total duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The first part will contain 100 questions, while the second part will consist of 75 technical questions related to the specific trade. Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% marks in the second part to qualify. The final merit list will be prepared by assigning a 50-50% weightage to the first part of CBT-2 and the CBAT score.
