Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee will conduct the JEE Advanced 2026 on Sunday, 17 May, at examination centres across India. Candidates appearing for the highly competitive engineering entrance examination have been advised to strictly follow the exam-day instructions, dress code and reporting guidelines issued by the authorities. The examination will be held in two shifts and candidates must carry all mandatory documents to gain entry into the examination hall.

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Timings

The examination will consist of two compulsory papers scheduled on the same day.

Paper 1
9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon


Paper 2
2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Candidates belonging to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category will receive one hour of compensatory time.

The question papers will be available in both English and Hindi, and students will be allowed to switch between languages during the examination.

JEE Advanced 2026 Admit Card Download Details

The admit cards for JEE Advanced 2026 were released on 11 May on the official website.

Candidates can download their hall tickets from JEE Advanced Official Website until 17 May 2026, up to 2:30 PM.

The admit card contains key details including:
  • Candidate’s name and roll number
  • Photograph and signature
  • Examination centre address
  • Reporting time
  • Important exam-day instructions

Documents Required at JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Centre

Candidates must carry the following items to the examination centre:
  • Printed copy of JEE Advanced 2026 admit card
  • Original photo identity proof
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Pens and pencils
  • Transparent water bottle
Candidates are advised to reach the venue early to complete frisking and biometric verification procedures smoothly.

JEE Advanced 2026 Marking Scheme

According to the official marking pattern, candidates will receive four marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.

As the paper may include multiple question formats, students are advised to carefully read the instructions before answering.

List of Barred Items Inside JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Hall

Authorities have prohibited candidates from carrying electronic gadgets and several personal belongings inside the examination centre.

Prohibited items include:

  • Bluetooth devices
  • Earphones and microphones
  • Health bands and pagers
  • Calculators and electronic pens
  • Pen drives and scanners
  • Wallets and handbags

  • Pencil boxes and pouches
  • Any similar electronic communication device
Candidates found carrying restricted items may face disqualification.

JEE Advanced 2026 Dress Code Guidelines

IIT Roorkee has also issued detailed dress code instructions for candidates appearing in the examination.

Students have been advised not to wear jewellery or metallic accessories such as:
  • Rings
  • Chains and pendants
  • Earrings and nose pins
  • Bracelets
  • Badges and brooches
Candidates should avoid clothes with large buttons and are encouraged to wear open footwear such as sandals or slippers.

Authorities have additionally instructed students not to wear charms or taweez inside the examination hall.

Candidates Advised to Check Reporting Time Carefully

Candidates are advised to carefully verify the reporting time and examination centre details mentioned on their admit card before leaving for the exam venue.

Students appearing outside their home city have also been urged to make travel arrangements in advance to avoid last-minute delays on exam day.
