MUMBAI: In a swift and meticulous operation, the Detection Squad of the Nagpada Police Station has successfully solved a daylight robbery case, arresting two history-sheeters and recovering a stolen mobile phone. The police are currently on the lookout for a third accomplice who remains at large.
Brief About The IncidentThe crime occurred on the evening of May 9, 2026, between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM. The complainant was walking on the footpath of Bellasis Road, near the Alexander Mosque (from Mumbai Central toward the Do Taki Junction), when they were suddenly intercepted by unidentified individuals. The muggers assaulted the victim, forcibly snatching ₹10,000 in cash and a used Vivo mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
In Conversation with ‘Hello Mumbai News Mr Pradeep Kale Senior Police Inspector of Nagpada police station said,” A First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Sections 304 (2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on May 10 and we set-up s team of Officer to solve this case.as if now we have arrested two accused ,Jahangir Abdul Satar Sheikh (38): A driver by profession, residing at Indira Nagar Slums, Sewri (W), and Dimtimkar Road footpath, Nagpada. He is originally from Motihari village, Darbhanga district, Bihar. He has a prior criminal record, including a recent theft case (C.R. No. 116/26 under Section 303(2) BNS) at Nagpada Police Station.and Mo. Isa Nasir Sheikh (28): Unemployed, residing on the footpath near Arabia Hotel, Mohammad Shahid Marg, Nagpada. He is a hardcore repeat offender with multiple cases registered against him, including drug possession (NDPS Act), Maharashtra Police (MP) Act violations, and theft cases across Nagpada and D.B. Marg police stations, We got police Custody from the Court our investigation is underway,,”
Brief About Investigation;The investigation, led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Dnyaneshwar Shendge and his team, faced immediate hurdles. Due to being in an intoxicated state, the complainant could not provide the exact time or precise location of the attack. Furthermore, the official government CCTV cameras in the area were non-functional.
Undeterred, the detection team meticulously scanned footage from 50 to 55 private CCTV cameras in the vicinity. Their persistence paid off when they spotted a known history-sheeter moving suspiciously near the crime scene.

An intensive, covert foot patrol was launched across the dense localities of Madanpura and Kamathipura. Utilizing advanced human intelligence and keen observation skills, the team tracked down the suspects after five to six hours of relentless tracking.
Despite the suspects altering their clothing to evade identification, the police tactfully cornered and detained them. Upon conducting a physical search (angzhadti), authorities recovered a used orange Vivo Y56 mobile phone (with cracked screen, no password, and missing SIM card) matching the stolen property’s description. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation and were formally arrested
The police have launched a manhunt for the third absconding accused, identified as Saddam (28).
