During the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Gujarat Titans (GT) IPL 2026 match at Eden Gardens, Anukul Roy pulled off a spectacular boundary-line catch to dismiss a well-set Shubman Gill off Sunil Narine's bowling.

In the 17th over of the second innings, GT skipper Shubman Gill was anchoring a fierce chase, batting beautifully on 85 runs off 49 balls (including 5 fours and 7 sixes). Gill went for a big sweep shot off a length delivery from Sunil Narine, targeting the deep square-leg boundary.

Anukul Roy tracked the ball perfectly at deep backward square leg. Showing incredible athleticism and core balance right on the edge of the rope, he pouched the ball safely.

Roy was confident, but the on-field umpires referred the catch upstairs to review if his feet had touched the boundary pads. TV replays confirmed his back leg remained millimetres clear of the rope, making it a fair catch and a massive breakthrough for KKR.

Allen powers KKR past Titans

Powered by explosive knocks from Kolkata Knight Riders batters Finn Allen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green, KKR outclassed Gujarat Titans by 29 runs at Eden Gardens on May 16. After being asked to bat first, KKR piled up a mammoth 247/2 in 20 overs, registering one of their highest IPL totals. Allen set the tone with a blistering 93 off just 35 balls, smashing 10 sixes at a strike rate of 265.71 before Sai Kishore dismissed him. Raghuvanshi then anchored the innings with an unbeaten 82 off 44 deliveries, while Cameron Green provided the finishing flourish with a 28-ball 52*.

Chasing 248, Gujarat Titans started aggressively despite Sai Sudharsan retiring hurt briefly on 42*. Shubman Gill kept GT alive with a stunning 85 off 49 balls, while Jos Buttler added a quickfire 57. Sudharsan returned later and completed a 27-ball fifty, remaining unbeaten on 53. However, KKR bowlers kept striking at crucial intervals. Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers with 2/29, dismissing Nishant Sindhu and Gill at key moments. Gujarat eventually finished on 218/4, falling short by 29 runs despite crossing the 200-run mark.
