Patna. Bihar government has taken a new initiative to facilitate the secretariat employees and reduce the increasing traffic pressure in the city. Special electric and pink bus service will be started by Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) from 18 May 2026. With this decision, thousands of government employees are expected to get relief in daily commuting.
According to the Transport Department, the main objective of this service is to promote public transport and reduce dependence on private vehicles. The government believes that if a large number of employees use the bus service, the consumption of petrol and diesel will reduce and the traffic system will also improve.
Direct facilities will be available from many areas of Patna
The new electric and pink bus service will run from different areas of Patna directly to the new and old secretariat. Buses will be available for employees during morning office hours, while return service will also be provided in the evening. These buses will pass through major areas like Patna Junction, Danapur Station, Gandhi Maidan, Kurji and Dhanuki Mod. Keeping in mind the convenience of women employees, pink bus service is also being started on many routes.
Electric buses will save fuel
According to Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, currently 25 electric buses are being operated in Patna. Now these buses will also be used for secretariat employees. Officials say that this will reduce the use of private cars and bikes. Besides, environmental protection and energy saving will also be promoted.
Efforts to reduce traffic and pollution
The government believes that due to the ever increasing number of vehicles in Patna, the problem of jam and pollution is increasing. In such a situation, it has become necessary to strengthen public transport. After the launch of the new bus service, employees traveling to and from the Secretariat will be able to get affordable, safe and timely travel facilities. With this, common people are also expected to benefit from better transportation system.
