The chief of Samajwadi Party is trying to win over Brahmin voters in his favor in the upcoming proposed assembly elections. He has many times raised the issue of increasing interference of Kshatriyas and oppression of Brahmins in the Bharatiya Janata Party from the open platform. The party is preparing to field Brahmin candidates on Brahmin dominated seats in the state.
Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati created a stir in the politics of the state by making the statement that ‘Brahmin is not a prostitute’. Bharatiya Janata Party opposed the statement of Rajkumar Bhati. District committees of BJP gave memorandums against this. Brahmin organizations in the state strongly opposed this and demanded action. A case was also registered against Rajkumar Bhati. Senior socialist leaders tried to do damage control by calling Bhati’s statement wrong. Even after that the protests do not seem to be stopping.
Alankar Agnihotri surrounded SP office with supporters
Rashtriya Adhikar Morcha President and City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri along with his supporters had protested till late night outside the state office of Samajwadi Party. The police tried to remove him for a long time, but later the police caught Alankar Kare and took him away. Many other organizations also demonstrated at various places and demanded strict action against Rajkumar Bhati.
Akhilesh apologized to Brahmin community, Mayawati increased pressure
National President of Bahujan Samaj Party Mayawati said on the statement of Rajkumar Bhati that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav should apologize to the entire Brahmin community in this matter. SP, which pursues narrow casteist politics, is silent on the issue, hence the situation is becoming tense. SP’s hostile attitude towards Dalits, extremely backward people, Muslim community and Brahmins has not changed, but has deepened. He said that there is resentment among Brahmins due to the attitude of the present government. The BSP government gave full respect and participation to the Brahmins of the entire society.
