Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced each other in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata was high-scoring, in which KKR won by 29 runs. When invited to bat first, KKR scored 247 runs at the loss of 2 wickets and then restricted GT to 218. With this win, KKR is alive in the race for the playoffs.

Finn Allen played a stormy innings

Finn Allen gave a good start to KKR after losing the toss and coming to bat first. Despite another flop show from captain Ajinkya Rahane (14 runs in 14 balls), Allen scored 93 runs in 35 balls by continuously hitting fours and sixes from one end. He hit 4 fours and 10 sixes in his innings. Taking advantage of the lease of life on his personal score of 33 runs, Allen played with GT’s bowling and laid the foundation of a huge score by taking KKR to 139 runs in 11.2 overs before getting out.

After Allen returned to the pavilion, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (82 not out in 44 balls) and Cameron Green (52 not out in 28 balls) made an unbroken partnership of 108 runs, due to which KKR gave a difficult target to GT.

GT’s Vijayarath stopped

GT had a great start in the huge run chase but by the end of the third over, it got a huge blow. Sai Sudarshan got injured on the ball of Kartik Tyagi and retired hurt. New batsman Nishant Sindhu also walked in the next over. He became the victim of Sunil Narayan. After this, captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler made a partnership of 128 runs for the third wicket but they could not control the required run rate, due to which GT remained away from the target. Gill was out after scoring 85 runs in 49 balls with the help of 5 fours and 7 sixes. Whereas Jos Buttler scored 57 runs in 35 balls.

After Gill’s dismissal, Sudarshan came back to bat and scored 30 runs in the next 15 balls but he could only reduce the margin of defeat. Sudarshan remained unbeaten after scoring 53 runs in 28 balls. GT had entered this match after winning 5 consecutive matches. By maintaining the winning streak against KKR, it could have qualified for the playoffs and confirmed its place in the top-2 but it could not happen.
