Lucknow, Read: Due to the sports-oriented policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has created a new identity in the field of sports in the last nine years. The state, which once struggled with lack of sports facilities, is now emerging as the sports power of the country through international stadiums, sports colleges, sports universities and modern sports infrastructure. The government aims to make sports a respectable career option for the youth.
Government jobs and promotions for players
Yogi government has implemented the system of two percent horizontal reservation in government services for sportspersons. Players who have performed excellently at national and international level are being given the benefit of direct recruitment and promotion.
Till now, more than 534 players have been appointed through direct recruitment, the recruitment process of 500 players is going on. From the year 2021 till now, 334 players have been promoted to the posts of Inspector, Sub-Inspector and Chief Constable.
Sports colleges increased in the state
To promote sports education, two new sports colleges have been started in Saharanpur and Fatehpur. With their operation from the academic session 2026-27, the number of sports colleges in the state has increased to five. The construction work of another sports college is going on in Ballia.
The first sports university will open in this session
Major Dhyan Chand Sports University under construction in Sardhana, Meerut will start in this academic session. This will be the first sports university of Uttar Pradesh, where modern facilities for sports education and training will be provided.
Prizes worth crores for medal winners
On behalf of the Yogi government, the Olympic gold winner has been given a prize of Rs 6 crore, silver medal winner Rs 4 crore and bronze medal winner Rs 2 crore. Similarly, winners of Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and other world level competitions have also been given prizes worth crores of rupees.
