New Delhi, May 17: The Meghalaya government is set to organize the North East India Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition (NEIINFRA) on June 11 and 12. This event will bring together policymakers, investors, financial institutions, and industry leaders to discuss connectivity, investment opportunities, and the overall growth of the region.
During a recent gathering in the capital, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma highlighted that Meghalaya's economy has seen a twofold increase over the past five years, with capital investments soaring four times since 2018.
Sangma emphasized that Meghalaya is among the fastest-growing economies in India, maintaining a steady growth rate over the last three to four years, which is vital for attracting investors, as noted in a press release.
He also pointed out the Meghalaya Industrial Promotion Policy, which offers substantial incentives to investors.
The Chief Minister praised the state's robust entrepreneurial ecosystem, stating that Meghalaya has been consistently recognized for fostering an excellent environment for entrepreneurs.
Additionally, he mentioned the growth of the IT sector in Meghalaya, revealing that the first IT park is already at full capacity, while the second IT park is receiving significant interest from both national and international industry leaders.
Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, commended Meghalaya's swift development and reaffirmed the Indian government's ongoing support for infrastructure-driven growth and regional integration in the northeast.
He credited Sangma for the state's rapid advancement, labeling it as the fastest-growing state in the nation, according to the release.
