Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta was seen in a rather tense conversation with skipper Shreyas Iyer following the team's loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 on Sunday.
The moment soon went viral across social media as followers chimed in about the palpable tension in the Punjab Kings camp. The PBKS, who at one point looked like the most dominant team in this year's edition of the tournament, have now lost their last six matches on the bounce and are on the cusp of a playoff exit.
Preity Zinta has been present in every Punjab Kings games this season and has always been one of the staunchest supporters of the franchise. However, the recently circulated pictures following the loss to RCB captured the disappointment looming around the team following a catastrophic meltdown in the latter half of the season.
While the content of the discussion between Zinta and Shreyas Iyer remains unknown, the fans, on the other hand, widely discussed the body language and the mood surrounding the talk, after yet another thumping loss for Punjab.
Punjab Kings' IPL 2026 Campaign Falls Flat
Punjab Kings started IPL 2026 quite well and looked like genuine playoff contenders during the initial phase of the competition. Their dynamic batting attack led by Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and Shreyas Iyer assisted them in a series of dominant performances in the first half of the tournament.
Things, however, have taken a completely opposite turn over the last few weeks.
The team has now registered six consecutive losses on the trot as their bowling unit failed to hold their nerves under pressure. The most recent loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru pushed them further back in the playoff standings.
RCB posted a mammoth target, and the Punjab Kings were unable to build a sustainable momentum while chasing. The dismissals of Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer early in the innings put a lot of pressure on the remaining batters from the beginning of the chase.
Despite efforts by Cooper Connolly to rebuild the innings and the attacking cameos from Shashank Singh later on while batting alongside Marcus Stoinis, the Punjab Kings looked shaky throughout the chase.
The defeat saw PBKS remain at 13 points, and their qualification for the playoffs now rests on the results of other matches.

Playoff Pressure Grows on Shreyas Iyer and PBKS
Six defeats in a row have put the Punjab Kings in an awful position with just one league stage match left to play.
The same day that Shreyas Iyer joined a very elite list of captains in the IPL to captain a team for 100 matches, his team continued their terrible run of form.
The Kings' bowling line-up contains a lot of experienced names, but in the second half of the IPL 2026, they have lacked a consistent edge in bowling opposition batters and are struggling to defend targets.
On the other hand, the Royal Challengers of Bengaluru continued their good form and strengthened their play-off chances again with another dominating performance and are favourites for a top two spot.
The Kings face a very tough task in the matches that follow to keep their play-off dreams alive, as not only will they have to win their final game but they will also need a lot of other things to go their way. Preity Zinta and Shreyas Iyer’s viral moment just seemed to sum up their feelings perfectly after another miserable night.
