Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday and defeated them by 29 runs. The team ranked number 8 in the points table defeated number 2. After the match, there was no major change in the Purple Cap list of IPL 2026, but the Orange Cap table changed completely.

GT lost the match, but their openers B Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill tried their best to chase down KKR’s score of 247 runs. Sudarshan was retired hurt after scoring 23 runs in 13 balls after being hit by Kartik Tyagi in the third over. But in the 17th over, when Gill was out, he returned to bat and added 30 more runs in 15 balls to finish on 53 not out in 28 balls. With this inning, his total runs in this season increased to 554 and he reached the top in the list of run-scorers. This is not new for him, as he was the Orange Cap winner in IPL 2025 as well. At the same time, Gill’s third 80-plus innings of this season took him to second place with 552 runs. During this time he temporarily pushed Heinrich Klaasen into third place. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)’s Klaasen is the only other batsman to score more than 500 runs this season, with 508 runs to his name. The top five further includes Virat Kohli (RCB) and Klaasen’s teammate Abhishek Sharma. Kohli has 484 runs in his name, while Abhishek has scored 481 runs. Despite being out of the top 10, KKR batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued his brilliant performance. He scored unbeaten 82 off 44 balls, taking him to 13th position with 422 runs. This was his fifth half-century this season. Ahead of him is only Sai Sudarshan, who has six half-centuries and one century in his name, while four other batsmen also have five half-centuries each.

Not much change was seen here. Rashid Khan and Tyagi were in the group of four bowlers with 16 wickets each before the match and remained there after remaining wicketless. Kagiso Rabada also could not take any wicket and remained at the second position. Apart from Rashid and Tyagi, Prince Yadav (LSG) and SRH’s Ishan Malinga are also present with 16 wickets. Above all is RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 22 wickets to his name. He is followed by Rabada with 21 wickets and CSK’s Anshul Kamboj with 19 wickets.
