Jack Taylor, a famous actor who starred in both Conan the Barbarian and Count Dracula has died aged 99. He had appeared in an abundance of films and even worked alongside icons like Marilyn Monroe. He died on May 12, 2026, mere months before he would've turned 100 in October and mark a huge milestone. While he had a load of acting credits throughout his career, he didn't live in the heart of the world of showbiz and instead resided in Madrid for over sixty years.
However, it didn't slow down his TV work, with his portrayal of a priest alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in John Milius' Conan the Barbarian in 1982, and an antique book collector with Johnny Depp in Roman Polanski's The Ninth Gate in 1999. He also appeared in Milos Forman's Goya's Ghosts in 2006.
In Spain, he acted in multiple films including X-rated Succubis (1968) and Eugenia (1970), among many others. It was reported that he found things tough in Hollywood and soon drove to Mexico and learned the language before finding work in films south of the border, such as The Ivory Tower and Nostradamus y el Destructor de Monstruous.
The actor, born George Brown Randall, still had a stellar career on stage after he moved to Madrid and decided to stay there after he went to the city to perform in the Mexican musical comedy La Pelirroja.
Tributes have since poured in for the actor as one user wrote: "Sad news today, one of my more recent co-stars, the amazing legendary Jack Taylor who appeared as my leading antagonist in the birthday has passed away at 99. My heart goes out to all Jack's friends and family."
Another wrote: "He was great in The Ninth Gate, and Conan the Barbarian. He's the priest guy that Conan lures behind a tent and knocks him out to steal his robes. 99 is a good run. Sad to see him go though." While a third said: "RIP, time to watch Pieces again."
Prior to his death, he published his memoirs titled My 100 Years of Cinema, but sadly died before making it to the triple figure. The book acted as a retrospective on his extensive career in the film industry, focusing on all the trials and tribulations he faced while he tried to make it in Hollywood.
