The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) has commenced preparations for the CET 2026 examination. This time, several major changes will be introduced in the exam, impacting hundreds of thousands of candidates. The Board has clarified that negative marking will now be implemented in the CET exam, and the difficulty level of the examination will be raised compared to previous years. Additionally, the validity period of the CET certificate has been extended to three years. This move will provide relief to over 2 million candidates across the state. Only those candidates who pass the CET examination will be eligible to apply for various major recruitment drives, including those for Patwari, VDO, LDC, and Police Constable positions. The Board is set to initiate the application process shortly.
According to the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, the CET Graduate Level examination is scheduled to be held in November 2026. The online application process for this is expected to commence in June 2026. Candidates will be allotted a window of approximately one month to submit their applications. Meanwhile, the CET Senior Secondary Level examination is tentatively scheduled for December 2026, with applications for it likely to open in July 2026.
**Negative Marking to be Implemented This Time**
Board Chairman Alok Raj stated that the difficulty level of the examination this time will be higher than in previous years. Negative marking will also be introduced in the exam to ensure that only truly deserving candidates are selected. The Board's objective is to declare only about 300,000 to 400,000 candidates as eligible.
**Major Recruitment Opportunities to Open Up for CET Qualifiers**
Only candidates who successfully clear the CET examination will be eligible to apply for various key recruitment drives within the state. These include recruitment for positions such as Patwari, Village Development Officer (VDO), Junior Accountant, LDC, Platoon Commander, Hostel Superintendent, and Police Constable. Currently, several recruitment processes remain stalled due to the lack of CET eligibility criteria.
**CET Certificate to Remain Valid for Three Years**
Previously, the validity of the CET certificate was limited to one year; however, it has now been extended to three years. This will spare hundreds of thousands of candidates the hassle of having to appear for the examination repeatedly.
**Validity of CET 2024 Has Expired**
The validity of the CET 2024 examination expired in February 2026. As a result, the eligibility of 8.78 lakh candidates at the graduate level and 9.17 lakh candidates at the senior secondary level had lapsed. Subsequently, persistent uncertainty regarding the new CET examination prevailed among students, which the Board has now clarified.
