The Indian Air Force has released the notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2. According to the notification, the online application process for AFCAT 2 will commence on May 20. Eligible and interested candidates can apply by visiting the official AFCAT website at afcat.cdac.in. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for June 19, 2026. Through this recruitment drive, more than 300 vacancies will be filled, including a total of 142 officer positions across the Flying and Ground Duty branches of the Indian Air Force.

**Educational Qualifications for IAF AFCAT 2 Exam 2026**
**Ground Duty Branch:**

A degree in Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.

Passed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics as subjects, securing at least 50% marks; OR a 3-year graduation degree with 60% marks; OR a B.E./B.Tech degree with 60% marks.

**Age Limit for IAF AFCAT 2 Exam 2026**
For the Ground Duty and Non-Technical branches, candidates must be at least 20 years old and not more than 26 years old, whereas for the Flying Branch, the age limit is between 20 and 24 years. The age will be calculated as of July 1, 2027.
Candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by the DGCA may be granted an age relaxation in the upper age limit, up to 26 years.

**What is the Application Fee?**
Candidates applying through the NCC Special Entry and GATE channels are exempted from paying the application fee, while for all other candidates, the application fee has been fixed at ₹550.

**What is the Exam Pattern?**
The AFCAT 2 examination will be conducted for a total of 300 marks, with a duration of two hours. The examination will also feature negative marking; specifically, one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Questions in this examination will cover General Knowledge, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude.

**Training Post-Selection**
Training is scheduled to commence in the first week of July 2027 at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad). The training duration is 62 weeks for the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical) Branch, whereas it is 50 weeks for the Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch. At the time of joining, candidates must possess a PAN Card and an account with the State Bank of India or any other nationalized bank.
