Through methods such as 'Digital Arrest' scams, fake investment schemes, and intimidating phone calls, fraudsters frequently ensnare elderly citizens and coerce them into transferring money. To mitigate the risks associated with such scams affecting the elderly, several bank branches have introduced a 'Dual OTP System.'

Under this system:
The first OTP is sent to the account holder.
The second OTP is sent to a family member.
This adds layer of verification for any suspicious transactions.
Family members also receive alerts regarding these transactions.

Keep these 3 points in mind:
Regularly educate your parents and the elderly members of your family about the dangers of cyber fraud.
Strictly advise them against sharing OTPs or transferring money in response to calls from unknown numbers.
Visit your nearest bank branch to inquire about activating the Dual OTP feature.

This system can play a crucial role in protecting senior citizens from scams and unauthorized transactions. The primary benefit of the Dual OTP system is that a transaction cannot be completed using a single OTP alone. This system has already been rolled out across more than 50 bank branches in Faridabad, Nuh, Gurugram, and Palwal. Work is currently underway to implement this feature in private sector banks as well.
