On Monday, a shocking bomb threat was reported at the revered Har Ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, causing widespread alarm. An anonymous caller directly contacted the police emergency number, leading to immediate action from law enforcement agencies. Given the site's significance, security measures were promptly intensified, and the police went into high alert.
According to officials, a drunken individual made a call to emergency number 112, claiming that bomb explosions would occur at Har Ki Pauri and several other locations within four days. Following this alarming call, police forces were placed on high alert, and multiple teams were deployed swiftly.
The caller's phone number and location were quickly traced, resulting in the arrest of the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Sohan Singh Rawat from Yamkeshwar in Pauri district. During interrogation, he admitted to making the threat while under the influence of alcohol.
A case has been registered at the Haridwar city police station, and the accused has been remanded to jail. Haridwar's Senior Superintendent of Police, Navneet Singh Bhullar, has also issued a statement regarding the incident.
