HOJAI, May 18: The recent three-day visit of Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to Hojai has stirred significant interest and activity throughout the district.
Reports indicate that discussions took place among political circles regarding potential meetings between Bhagwat and various political leaders, including state ministers and senior members of the Sangh Parivar.
Political analysts suggest that these discussions may have centered on Assam's current political landscape, potential Cabinet expansion, and future strategies.
Hojai is being considered a key location for important discussions related to Cabinet expansion, with many observers hopeful about the inclusion of the newly elected local MLA, Shiladitya Dev, in the state Cabinet.
On Wednesday evening, Bhagwat arrived at the Sanskar Prakalp Mandir within the Geetashram premises in Hojai, traveling in a large convoy under Z-Plus security from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
Prior to his arrival, the administration had transformed the Geetashram area into a high-security zone, with personnel from the Hojai Police Station closely monitoring the area.
While Bhagwat did not engage with the media upon his arrival, his presence generated considerable excitement among RSS workers and members of various Sangh Parivar organizations, who welcomed him with flower showers, creating a celebratory atmosphere.
Sources indicate that Bhagwat engaged in extensive discussions with participants of the ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg–1 (Second Year)’ training camp, which is ongoing from May 11 to June 1.
During the camp, he reportedly addressed topics related to RSS ideology, organizational structure, and national thought processes, and participated in several significant meetings with senior organization officials.
The RSS’s north Assam Prachar Pramukh confirmed that Bhagwat was present at the Hojai training camp on May 14, 15, and 16, before departing for Nagpur via Guwahati on Sunday morning.
Notably, the training camp includes 103 swayamsevaks from north Assam, South Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh, with 56 participants from north Assam, 20 from Tripura, 13 from Manipur, 8 from south Assam, and 6 from Arunachal Pradesh.
