Some time ago, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched an AI-powered chatbot named 'Abhay' to facilitate the authentication of CBI notices. In light of the rapidly rising number of cases involving cybercrime and 'digital arrests,' the government introduced this AI bot for the benefit of citizens. Today, we will explain how this chatbot serves to assist you.
CBI Abhay: Why was this AI bot created?
This system has been designed to protect citizens from the growing threat of cyber fraud and digital arrest scams. The agency stated that cyber fraud has emerged as a serious challenge facing India's criminal justice system. Rapid advancements in technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and deepfakes have made it increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens to distinguish between what is genuine and what is fabricated.

Fraudulent notices are frequently used to ensnare people in 'digital arrest' scams. The CBI noted that once a victim is deceived into complying with the demands, the fraudsters initiate a bogus legal process. Under the guise of a 'digital arrest'—a concept that holds no legal validity under Indian law—they keep the victim under surveillance for several days.
How to use CBI Abhay?
You can access and utilize 'Abhay' at any time by visiting the official website of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at www.cbi.gov.in. Upon visiting the site, you will find the 'Abhay' banner prominently displayed at the very top of the page; clicking on this banner will open a separate dedicated page.
The 'Abhay' portal explicitly states that it serves as the CBI's notice verification chatbot. Please take note that there is no existing legal provision for a 'digital arrest.' If anyone claims that you are to be placed under 'digital arrest,' you should immediately recognize that you are being targeted by fraudsters. Report such incidents immediately at www.cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930. Do not transfer money to any account under the pretext of bail or any form of verification.
