Maruti Brezza Facelift— Maruti Suzuki, which has a strong hold on the sub-compact SUV segment in the Indian automobile market, is preparing to launch a new avatar of its popular car Brezza. Maruti Brezza Facelift has been spotted running on the Western Peripheral Expressway (KMP) adjacent to Delhi-NCR with heavy customization and emission testing equipment. After this latest spy shot has surfaced, it has become clear that the company is going to make not only cosmetic changes in the car but also a major mechanical overhaul, which can directly reduce the tax burden on the customers’ pockets.

Big change in engine: Is turbo-petrol coming?

According to automotive experts, the involvement of the emission testing pipe is a strong indication that Maruti is replacing or updating its existing engine. Currently, Brezza is available with a 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine. Due to this big engine, Brezza does not get the benefit of government tax bracket available on cars smaller than 4-meter and it attracts 40 percent GST.

According to the latest leaked reports, Maruti can now offer a 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine with Fronx. With the introduction of this small and powerful engine, this SUV will come under the less than 1.2-litre capacity rule, due to which the tax on it will be reduced to just 18 percent GST. Due to this, there may be a huge reduction in the starting price of the car.

These modern features will be available in ADAS and interior

Many other new things were also noticed in the vehicle that was seen during testing on the highway. A radar housing has been seen right in the middle of the front grille of the car, which is a direct indication that the 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift is going to get the safety feature of Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Apart from this, the following changes are clearly visible in the car:

  • Re-designed front bumper and new cleaner grille design.
  • New triangular shaped fog lamp housings and thick silver skid plate.
  • New 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
  • Inside the cabin, the new Victoris gets a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the existing 9-inch one.
  • New 6-speed manual gearbox (6MT) seen in pilot testing.

Boot space problem will be solved, CNG tank will be placed below.

Another test mule spotted earlier this month revealed that Maruti is coming up with a unique solution for its CNG Brezza lovers. In the new model, instead of keeping the CNG cylinder in the boot (diggy), the underbody CNG tank will be fitted under the vehicle. This technology has also been used in Maruti’s recent Victoris SUV, giving car lovers the entire boot space to utilize.

When will it be launched and who is it competing with?

Market experts say that Maruti Suzuki can launch this Brezza facelift in the Indian market around the festive season (Diwali 2026) this year. However, in some reports, there is a possibility of it going by the beginning of 2027. After launch, it will compete directly with Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and the recently launched Skoda Kylaq.
