Before movies like Assi, Mulk, Article 15, Anek and Bheed, Anubhav Sinha was known for big screen spectacles like Ra.One and Dus and romantic musicals like Tum Bin and Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai.
During the same period, he made a highly stylised heist action entertainer Cash (2007) starring Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Shamita Shetty, Dia Mirza and Esha Deol.
While it featured chartbuster soundtrack, Cash bombed at the box office and was trashed by critics.

Moreover, Ajay Devgn who was the lead star of the movie, refused to promote it reportedly as he was unhappy over the way the finances and the movie were handled by the producers.
For reasons unknown, Ajay Devgn didn’t speak to Anubhav Sinha as well post the movie. But it looks like their longstanding feud has now come to an end.
Anubhav Sinha & Ajay Devgn Reunite For Larger-Than-Life ActionerAccording to Mid-Day, Anubhav Sinha is returning to blockbuster cinema with his next. A source stated, “It will be the kind of larger-than-life entertainers that Anubhav used to make before — think Dus [2005] or Ra.One [2011]. Now, the director wants to try his hand again at an ambitious action movie.”
Revealing further about their reunion, the source added, “After Cash, even though the duo did not speak, there wasn’t ever a direct disagreement. Anubhav had clarified that the disagreement was between the film’s producers and financiers. A few months ago, Kumar Mangat brought them together, and Anubhav pitched one of his three scripts to Ajay. The superstar, Mangat, as well as producer Bhushan Kumar instantly liked it, and the latter may come on board. Ajay asked Anubhav to make the scale bigger.”
The movie is expected to be heavy on action with strong elements of realism and is expected to go on floors by 2026-end if everything goes as planned.
What Anubhav Sinha Said About His Feud With Ajay DevgnIn 2025, in an interview with The Lallantop, Anubhav Sinha was asked about his feud with Ajay and he said, “We have never fought. He just doesn’t speak to me and I have no idea why. Since the making of Cash, we haven’t even met for me to tell you he ignored me or something. So, maybe, it's just me overthinking. However, I did text him a couple of times, and never received a response, so I told to myself that maybe it slipped his mind or he must have missed my message. But, it's been about 18 years since we have spoken.”
He was then asked if there was any disagreement with Ajay during the shoot and he replied, “We never had any disagreement between us. It was the producer and financier who had a disagreement. I was neither.”
Anubhav had further called Ajay “yaaron ka yaar” and revealed that in between he did comment on people’s political views and it was a generic statement not necessarily targeted towards the superstar.
