Bengaluru: Kannada actor Darshan, who is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, has reportedly requested special permission to meet his wife and son on the occasion of his wedding anniversary.
Darshan has been in jail for several months after being arrested in the case. His attempts to secure bail have faced repeated setbacks. Recently, the Supreme Court heard his bail plea and directed that all evidence in the case should be examined within a year, making an early bail unlikely.
According to reports, Tuesday, May 19, marks the 23rd wedding anniversary of Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi Darshan. As the family cannot celebrate together, the actor has sought permission from prison authorities for a special meeting with his wife and son inside the prison premises.
Reports said Darshan submitted a request letter to the Superintendent of Parappana Agrahara prison on May 15 seeking permission for the meeting.
It is also reported that Vijayalakshmi Darshan met Prisons Department DGP Alok Kumar on May 16 and requested permission for the visit.
After the rejection of the bail plea, Darshan is said to have written the letter requesting the special family meeting.
